Decoding Sounds and and Words in the Developing Brain: We are interested in the neural representation of words and word-like sounds and how those representations change across development. In this study, we are using electroencephalography (EEG) and machine-learning algorithms to track how adults perceive words and non-words. EEG is a non-invasive, safe neuroimaging tool that measures the electrical activity within the brain. It involves placing a swimcap-like hat with electrodes on your head and recording your brain activity while you listen to some language stimuli. The study takes 1 to 1.5 hours, and you will be reimbursed $15/hour. To participate or find out more, email langdev@audiospeech.ubc.ca!
